Tim Jack served aboard the USS Nimitz from 1978-1982. During the Iranian Hostage Crisis the USS Nimitz made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue the hostages with the use of helicopters. The crew was awarded with medals by Jimmy Carter. Tim served as a gunner's mate.
