| Common Ground: The Journey Toward Understanding
Lesson Plans
Young children don't think of skin color is an issue. Studies throughout the years have shown that environmental factors help our youngest develop the qualities that lead to racial prejudice. In other words, racism is learned.
Parents, guardians, caregivers and educators can join together to help young children celebrate diversity and the differences among us. Karen Regina, educator and award-winning author, has developed several classroom lessons for the Common Ground Initiative that target grades K-5. The lessons are geared to Ohio's Academic Content Standards and will help reinforce values of acceptance and compassion.
You can download the lesson plans and supporting materials using Adobe Acrobat.
