CET Gets Moving With Fitness Fanatic
CET has teamed up with Dave Patania to make fitness irresistible. Introducing the Fitness Fanatic, a new physical fitness series that will debut on CET this month.
The six-part series will teach children the benefits of exercise and inspire them to get active. Noted physical trainer and columnist Dave Patania teaches children about the health benefits ballet, basketball, BMX riding, cheerleading, rowing and swimming can offer. Each episode is 20 minutes long.
Students appearing in the film are from local middle schools and help Patania demonstrate featured exercises in each episode. All shows were shot locally. Locations include the Cincinnati Ballet Blue Ash, Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, the Bishoff residence in Cincinnati, Southern Ohio Tumbling & Cheerleading in Sharonville, the Licking River Boathouse in Newport and St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati.
“Fitness Fanatic is an exciting way to for kids to be introduced to new sports or learn more about a sport they might be interested in trying,” said producer Nikki Little. “The exercises presented in this series are a great full body workout that kids can do anywhere. No extra equipment required.”
Fitness Fanatic premiers at 1 p.m. on CET November 20 and airs at the same time through November 22, with the series airing again during December. Episodes will also be available as streaming video on our Web site, CETconnect.org next spring.
In the coming months CET will also offer a guide for teachers to use in the classroom. In addition, professional development workshops are in development. The content of the workshops will emphasize connections between fitness activities and academic subject areas. Information will also be posted on CETconnect.org.
Major funding for Fitness Fanatic comes from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.
Additional funding comes from a grant from the H.G., H.F. & L.T Dornette Foundation, Fifth Third Bank and Stan Koller, Co-Trustees.
